Plymouth Upper Bracket Homes Sales Down 44% YTD – $800,000+ Homes

While the City of Plymouth might have been named number one small city in America by Money Magazine, that’s not making it any easier to sell upper bracket homes in this city.

I have been hearing anecdotally that it’s getting more and more difficult to sell the upper bracket homes so I thought I would take a look at the statistics for homes that have sold over $800,000 and I compared 2007 year to date with 2008 year to date.  Below are the numbers:

2007

Days on Market:  162.9

Price per SF: $232.58

Number of $1,000,000+ homes:  5

2008

Bloomington Based ResCap – Will It Survive?

GMAC announced it is closing down its mortgage operations.   It’s unknown at this point how many of the remaining 600 employees at Bloomington based ResCap will survive the shut down.  It doesn’t look good.

Title Companies Take a Hit

From Housing Wire:

Title insurance is a tough business these days — not only are more claims rolling in, but the amount paid per claim is also on the rise. And if that weren’t rough enough, far fewer new policies are rolling in the front door too, making for a trifecta of lost revenue for most of the industry’s behemoths in the space.

Fitch Ratings earlier this week took the axe to ratings of two title insurers, too, while warning that it would likely cut the ratings of another soon.
