As a real estate agent, I hear this a lot – “the city assessor came by to evaluate my property. They wanted to come in and see if I’ve made any improvements. Many people won’t let the assessor in.” I do not believe you are required to let them in by law.
Michael Bolton is an appraiser in the Twin Cities and he has a very thorough blog post on the matter.
What do you do when the assessor shows up?
