The NorthstarMLS system which is the MLS for the Minneapolis-St. Paul area REALTORS® has contracted with Instanet Solutions to be able to provide electronic document management and electronic signatures, e-signatures, for all of our real estate contracts now in the Twin Cities. I’ve thought about moving to an electronic format, but the software that I have seen appears to be difficult to use. It also really hasn’t caught on much yet with other agents that I know. Perhaps most of us just didn’t want to pay another $15-$20 per month for yet another service that we don’t use.
I watched the video which features Authentisign which I believe is the name for the technology or service that Instanet Solutions has created. The 2 minute video has been recommend by the NorthstarMLS folks. If it’s as simple to use as the video says it is, I plan to try this out immediately to see if I can make it happen! As my 5 year old son Ned says, “we can do this!”
This electronic signature package is being included in the costs of our MLS dues. If this is a trend across the country, then this will likely be bad news for e-signature firms like DocuSign.
