About John Murphy
December 2009
John Murphy’s real estate business growing rapidly despite the significant correction in the real estate market. He has been successful in helping many sellers as well as buyers achieve their goals in this challenging environment and was recently recognized as one of the Twin Cities Super Real Estate Agents. John has become one of the best “Quick Sale” specialists in the area. Selling your home quickly in this market is critical for sellers to be able to not only move on with their lives, but it also means more money in sellers’ pockets when their home sells fast. Others need to sell because they are facing foreclosure, in pre-foreclosure, or perhaps upside down on their mortgage and it doesn’t look like there’s any way out. Often times John is able to help those people by driving a quick sale and negotiating with that seller’s lender on the seller’s behalf. John is committed to helping distress sellers and has now become a Certified Distressed Property Expert. He has set up a separate site for consumers to get information about avoiding foreclosure and trying to understand short sales. Visit John Murphy Helps for more information.
John’s extensive training and ongoing education on current trends in the market allow him to quickly understand the various markets which enables him to rapidly scale from $100,000 properties to well over a million dollars.
Having spent 18 years in the field of technology media where nearly half those years were in San Francisco and Silicon Valley during the internet boom and bubble, John was able to hone his marketing, advertising and communications skills while leading large national sales organizations in a highly competitive and fast paced field. John led CMP Media’s InformationWeek to a record breaking year for a trade publication reaching $150,000,000 in sales. In addition to holding other executive positions at CMP Media (now UBM Technology – United Business Media Technology) John went on to hold sales executive positions at IDG’s InfoWorld. John’s passion for technology, media, communication and innovation, while fostered and developed in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, remains alive in well in his real estate business.
Besides helping his clients meet their dreams and goals which are often wrapped up one way or another with real estate, one of John’s objectives is to actually change the real estate field. John is an outspoken critic of many of the outdated and outmoded practices that go on in selling real estate. He believes there needs to be much more transparency in the business. No longer are real estate agents and brokers in control of the data flow. It’s a consumer driven market which means most agents and brokers today will not be able to figure out how to provide value to the consumer in this kind of market. An article entitled, “The Pursuit of the Real Estate Truth,” published in October 2007 by Scott Einbinder does a good job of highlighting many of the issues John has concerns about with the way real estate is generally practiced today.
