Admittedly, there has been a tremendous amount of doom and gloom the past 3 weeks. In fact, it’s been nonstop. So how about a dose of optimism?!! Larry Kudlow, a long time bull and certainly a long time bull on America, has an opinion piece today saying things aren’t so bad. There are some positives to the economy and it’s not all death and destruction.
Mr. Kudlow mentions the price of oil dropping to $80 per barrel and gas is down $.35-$.40/gal. I’m not sure where he’s seeing that kind of drop in gasoline. We’ve dropped $.25/gal as of today in the Twin Cities. (The recent peak that I saw was $3.85 and it’s now printing $3.59 in the Plymouth, Medina area).
For additional analysis as to why we shouldn’t be so gloomy, check out Seeking Alpha where Tim Ayles wrote an article entitled, “The End of America? Not Quite.” He has a lot of great charts and analysis. He does seem to downplay the debt and spending problem in the U.S. right now.
In any event, if you’re looking for a slightly different perspective that most of what you’re reading and seeing in the media, I hope you’ll enjoy those two articles.
